Back then for your mom, this was definitely not said and even with me, no one told me this. The docs just dished out prescriptions back in 2010 when I was heavily addicted. It's just all so wrong and infuriating. They were giving your mom so many things. Ugh. So sorry that she was deceived by all of the doctors.
