Being that my dogs are 14 and 16, anytime I read something like this, I cry. I feel you. These dogs are such a huge part of our lives. They are part of the family. They are your furry children. That really is interesting that you co-worker got an open ended leave over the death of his partners grandma! It shouldn't matter, like you said, we should be able to grieve the same for a pet.
