I haven’t had a drink in 18 months. That’s a whole year and a half.

Well, except for the two unintentional sips that made their way into my mouth on accident, which infuriates me.

First, I was brought the wrong drink while in Canada with my husband for our anniversary. I had one sip before I noticed it wasn’t alcohol-free.

The next time was two days ago. I was at dinner with some ladies, and all of them drink except for me. I ordered an “agua fresca” which is a non-alcoholic fruity drink.

They bring us all our drinks. The 5 ladies have margaritas and thinking I have my fruity juice, I join the cheers and take a drink.

TEQUILA! What the hell? Why is this happening to me again?

Why doesn’t a waiter or bartender accept that you are ordering a drink without alcohol?

I wanted to spit it out but had nowhere to do so. I didn’t feel like explaining myself to the women at the table that are not aware of my sobriety so my watermelon margarita, which was not a Fresca, sat there full on the table for our entire dinner.
