Do You Invade Your Teen’s Privacy?

I’ll admit it, I was addicted to snooping on my teenager's phone

It all began when my oldest daughter was in middle school. She got her first phone at the age of 12.

Why did we get her a phone at such a young age? Well, because all of her friends had one. Good reason, huh?

I was always worried about her fitting in, just as I was always trying to fit in myself.

Plus, she walked home from school half a mile away from our house. What would she do in a ten-minute walk home if she didn’t have a phone?

Gasp!

How did we survive as teenagers without one?

Simple… we don’t actually need phones but now we become uncomfortable without them. In many ways, a smartphone makes life so much easier.

For a teenager though, the phones complicate their simple lives.

After she got her phone, of course, she wanted Instagram. Every parent knows that feeling when their kids dive into social media for the first time.

You are just waiting for the shoe to drop. The time will come when you are their shoulder to cry on after they’ve been left out and it’s plastered all over social media.
