“My body is my journal, and my tattoos are my story.”― Johnny Depp

My daughter just turned 18 and what is the first thing she wanted to do?

Well, there are 2 things actually. She wanted to get her nose pierced and get her first tattoo.

You don’t have to be 18 here to get your nose pierced (with parental consent) but you do for a tattoo. In the state of California, you can’t have your parent co-sign for your ink. You must be of legal age.

She’s been dreaming of this day for the past few years. She even bartered with us when we were in Nashville last November because you can get one there with parental consent.

We denied that request and told her she can wait until she was of legal age. She pouted, we didn’t care and laughed it off.

On her 18th birthday, she drove herself to a body piercing shop and got herself a nice bull ring. What’s a mom to do? Accept it or reject her, so I pretended I loved it.

In all honesty, it’s her body and her freedom to express herself but it’s also my right to have my own silent opinion of it. It’s not my favorite but to each their own.
