Don’t Let Your Niche Hold You Against Your Will

Sobriety isn’t my whole identity and your one niche doesn’t have to be yours

When I first began writing here on Medium in January, I wrote about sobriety, addiction, and all things related. Those topics are all I wanted to read about for a year and then it was all I wanted to write about.

As I grew comfortable here with my writing, I wanted to branch out into other areas of my life. I wanted to address the trauma that I went through as a kid, which surprisingly made it easier to heal just by letting it out to strangers on the internet.

I wanted to talk about my relationships and bring light to different topics that interest me, such as yoga and healthy eating.

I began writing about some of my past travels in response to different prompts on some cool publications.

We read here a lot on Medium that you need to find your niche. Then, there are those that say F*CK niches. I’ve found myself somewhere in the middle.

I’m leaning towards not worrying about what everyone thinks about my writing. I am enjoying myself, learning and honing in on a new craft, and…
