I always wished my mom got sober but she never did and still hasn't. Even though there might be residual effects, your children will see the strength in you. They were/are still young enough that there are many good times ahead to be had with them sober. I waited way too long and put mine through the wringer.... and they still love me and are so proud now. But, you definitely don't get those years back.
