I am so glad that you had such a wonderful time with your daughter!! I think it's normal to feel this way about your birthdays!! I only had one celebration, when I turned 5. My mom couldn't be bothered. So, I think that is probably a main reason why I made sure to celebrate my girls every single year.

Having cake and friends celebrate is something special that I think kids should enjoy. No need for all the presents, like you said.

The big 45 is right around the corner for me, too. I don't really need to celebrate anymore though LOL!!!
