I Met Someone From Instagram and I Wasn’t Catfished

Two people living parallel lives meet for the first time

At the beginning of January, right after I turned one year sober, I found the world of sober Instagram. If you are unaware, there’s a massive group of like-minded sober people that post inspirational and motivational support.

There are so many accounts, yet I found it to be a tight-knit community. Being thrilled that I found this was an understatement. Even though I do attend some AA meetings, I needed more.

The amount of comforting support was astounding. I wasn’t expecting to ever find something like this to aid my recovery. One girl, in particular, was so sweet and welcoming. We have so much in common and were basically living parallel lives.

We’ve talked on the phone and messaged each other for the past few months. Plus, she is only a 7-hour drive away. So, we knew we’d have to meet up someday.
