I really try my best to remember with my daughters friends. I still fuck it up sometimes though. Being so programmed to just use he/she for so long, it's takes me being very mindful and sometimes I just speak before I think. I get corrected a lot with my daughters along with eyerolls. I wouldn't want someone using "they" for me either. This one is so tough but no I don't use "they" unless specifically asked and even then, I mess up!
