I relate to this. I stepped away from anything involving religion because of my own mother who always claimed to be a Christian but never acted like one. When my step-mom came into the picture, she was not religious but a good person. She always said that, too.... "I just believe in being a good person and I am spiritual." Sounds like you from reading this. It must have been hard to not be able to share that with someone that is not receptive!
