Is there tofu in their traditional miso soup?

…katsu, pork cutlets coated in egg and fried over rice mixed in liberally with sautéed onion slices. I ate every morsel of that rice dish, along with some pickled condiments and a small bowl of miso soup.

Is there tofu in their traditional miso soup? That doesn't look like tofu to me and I can't figure out what it is!
