People definitely think it's cool to say they are an empath... more so lately, as you described. I agree, if you are shouting about it, it's just plain weird.

I'm not sure if I am a true empath but I do have a lot of empathy and feel for others. I'm completely drained by social gatherings and need my alone time to recharge.
