Quiet Time in the Morning is Sacred and Necessary

Don’t mess with my mornings

It is an unpopular opinion but I don’t like this time change.

I like having dinner early. I like going to bed early and this time change really messes with that and in turn, everyone I know makes fun of me.

I wake up between 5 and 6 every morning, popping up and ready to hit the day.

But, first…

I need my alone time. That sacred hour (at least) of me with my coffee, my laptop, and my quiet thoughts.

It’s the best time to write. Nothing is stirring and the dogs are even still asleep.

Some of us lost an hour of sleep this weekend. Springing forward is hard and I wish they would get rid of the time-changing altogether.

Sunday morning though, even after losing an hour of sleep, was even more quiet than usual. Nothing was stirring for two whole hours.

Why is it darker than usual?

I’ve always been a morning person. I don’t need time to wake up. Pre-pandemic, I used to get up at 4:40 every morning and be out of the door by 5:15 for my hot yoga class. Then, I had time to shower, drop my kids off, and head to work.
