Moreover, my mother planted in me a profound dislike of toilets. Whenever we went into a public toilet, she would scream, ‘Don’t breathe! Don’t move, Don’t touch anything!’ Even now when I enter a restaurant toilet, I instinctively hold my breath and exit ASAP.
