Disclaimer: This is just what works for me and I am sharing my story. It is not a “how to lose weight” post, but about my lifestyle choice.

As I sit here remembering my first diet, the first thought that comes to mind is, “Why??”

It was 1994 and I was a sophomore in high school. Spring break was looming, and my friends and I were going to Rosarito, Mexico. In my mind, I need that hot, summer body!

The new diet fad was grapefruit and cottage cheese. Sure, if all you eat is grapefruit and cottage cheese three times a day, you’ll lose weight. No brainer!

How many calories do you think that is in a day? Not many, right? It’s roughly 900 calories. Of course, you would lose weight. But, who can do this for more than a few days? Not me.

So, I made it three days with this diet. After three days of being completely obsessed with what I couldn’t eat, I gave up. I think I lost a few pounds, and I know this might not gain me any popularity, but I honestly don’t think I needed to lose weight anyway. I was 16 years old!

I went straight back to my normal eating habits and gained the pounds back right away. What a waste of time!
