This was so heartbreaking to read. My mother and step-dad ended up this way, too - he died and she's just wasting away now. It would have turned out so much different if alcohol wasn't involved. Loosing a parent like that must be one of the hardest things to get over so too many turn to numbing agents to erase the pain.
