When It’s Hard To Focus Because Your Heart Is So Heavy
Are we supposed to be desensitized as Americans by now?
Oh, just another school shooting, no big deal? Let’s talk about what we are going to do about it and then never do a thing?
Innocent little elementary school kids are a target once again.
But, the problem would never be the guns, especially in Texas.
The problem is mental health.
No, the problem is that people with severe mental health issues can purchase a gun and ammunition so easily.
The problem is that most of these individuals can’t afford health care and are unable to deal with their mental health issues.
My heart broke 23 years ago, when I was just 21, and we watched what Columbine went through.
It continues to break each and every time this happens.
I can’t imagine getting that phone call.
No one is safe here.
I couldn’t even focus yesterday. I tried reading and writing yet my mind kept trailing off and imagining those poor little kids running or hiding for their lives.
I thought of what it would be like to be a teacher. Those little kids are your life and you aren’t able to…
