Who Would You Be If You Could Create Your Own Identity?

After watching a movie last night, this question came to mind and I jotted it down in the notes app on my phone.
In the movie, Not Okay, the main character is bored with her life. The movie is pretty cheesy but brings up some valid points about life and our society.
She longs for popularity and wants to impress a social media influencer that she works with, who in my opinion is no one I would ever want to dazzle.
An opportunity arises for her to construct a lie to her office and family that she is heading to a writers retreat in Paris. There is no retreat and she isn’t going to Paris but she discovers the beauty of social media.
You can be anyone you want to be on Instagram.
She creates a persona and sheds herself in a different light. She edits photos of herself with different backgrounds from France and pretends to smile as if she is having the time of her life.
Her social media presence blows up and suddenly she has tons of followers.
I won’t give the movie away, in case you are into cheesy flicks, but the lies keep compounding to keep up with her new persona.
