Why Bother Leaving a Comment if You Aren’t Going to Read?

Is it a Medium glitch or is it the fake reader?

After posting my story about meeting online friends in person, several of my Medium friends commented.

27 people commented yet 18 actually read my story. I don’t usually check this or read into it, but as I am sitting in the airport, I had some extra time.

It’s disheartening to see that my “friends” aren’t actually reading my stories.

Is this a Medium glitch or are people just skimming and not making it to the end before commenting?

Being even more curious, I go check out my other stories. The same thing is happening.

Is this another case of the quick highlight, skim to one line and comment, and then jet?

I am not taking it personally. I know that many people are on here to make money but I would hope that the connections I’ve made are somewhat real.

Maybe that is just me being naive and assuming, and you know what assuming does!

But, I am a sleuth and will figure it out.
