Wow, I am so sorry that you went through this and that is not pity from me. Believe me, I know how this goes. My 90 pound mother beat the shit out of my stepdad for years and had him arrested for it. This partner of yours sounds just like my mother. It's really hard to love someone like that. People that say such things have no idea because they haven't been in that situation. It's easier to stereotype!
