The title of this story is everything!! The explanation of cognitive dissonance when I first got sober really helped me along the way.

You evolved from that awkward kid in adolescence to an accomplished music professor and it is so admirable and brave. You are stepping out of your comfort zone all of the time and I don't think I could do that! I guess it really is a stereotype that I should be aware of, just because you chose to be a naturist doesn't mean you are an extrovert.
