Wow, Toya. You know this really hits home, sadly, just minus the racial part of it.

It saddens me to read. From the drinking, to the berating, the beatings with the preface, and the fear from not having a perfect report card. It is all painful to read because no child should have to grow up this way. The worst part of it all is seeing that when you are an adult, your parent can't even fully fess up to what they did. They brush it off like it was nothing and you should just get over it.

Sigh. It does take a lot of work through therapy and writing it out is such a good release.
