… tree, as ripe as can be. There’s not even a need for a knife; the skin comes easily off the fruit. You know it’s a good crop when the juice goes all over your face, chin, hands, all the way down your arms to drip from your elbows to the floor. You don’t even get too upset about the bits that get stuck between your teeth after you suck the mango pit clean of any flesh.
