You didn't have someone to break free and show you the way as a child. Your daughter has that... and even though you fell, she watched you climb out and change your life! That's why erasing it wouldn't be a good idea anyway. I think that by showing our kids resilience, they might make better choices... or if they do make the same choices, then they know there is a way out.
Once again, we have so much in common. I remember some awful dates, too. My first sobriety date ever was 8/11/11 and I had that same date a few years later after I had gone crazy again. Coincidence? I think not... but all those dates added up to the explosion that made us want to get sober.
