You don't have to say you are an alcoholic if you don't want to. I've had a few family members that have come with me before and they just said, I'm visiting. I don't like calling myself an alcoholic but when I do go to a meeting, I just say it. I recently started going back to one meeting a week, sometimes I miss a week. I met 4 amazing friends there during my first few months of sobriety, when I attended every day. And, I started to miss them so that's why I went back. I actually do get a lot out of it when I go, not the religious part but the stories from people like me. It also has put me in check with my problems several times. I went a few weeks back when I was all upset over nothing and listened to people talking about losing their children. Reality stepped in and that helped me a lot.

Anyway, this is SO long! Also, you can just listen, you don't have to share or say anything besides introducing yourself. Or, chiming in on the serenity prayer. You might like it. If not, you don't have to go back. Please report back to us though!
